This isn’t your typical conference.
Open Gov West ’12, Location: TBA
We’re working on relaunching OGW 2012! Stay tuned for more details. In the meantime…
A little about Open Gov West:
When you walk into Open Gov West, you’ll notice that there’s an interesting mix of people. Sure, there’s government staff in suits and khakis, but there’s also civic apps developers rocking their favorite band’s t-shirt. And in between, there’s people who represent a range of governments, nonprofits, foundations, technology companies, and civic groups. They’re likely people who you haven’t talked to yet, but you should. These are people who get the hard work of increasing transparency, civic engagement, and modernizing government technology, done.
They could become your new partners in addressing the challenging needs of your community and government. They’re people doing innovative work. You’ll be surprised to find that there’s people at Open Gov West wrestling with the same technology, transparency, and engagement issues that your organization is; together, you’ll find great ideas, case studies, and relationships which help you get your job done.
Open Gov West’s founding organization, Knowledge As Power (a 501c3 nonprofit), believes that the issues we cover at OGW are connected, and that their solutions are found through building relationships across different sectors and highlighting new tools and research. You won’t find long, 45 minute marketing speeches at OGW, but you will find ideas and technology that work with limited budgets. You’ll find policy ideas that click with new technology. And people who will become great partners will sit down next to you at lunch.
Open Gov West isn’t just a conference, it’s an opportunity.
